Radiology Department
Headed by Dr Aljaafari who completed his training at the college of medicine in Damascus following which he specialised in radiology and is an active member of the radiology society and current manager of ESFTH. He has vast expertise across various modes of imaging including X-ray, ultrasonography (including interventional radiology), CT, MRI, Barium studies, contrast studies and fine needle aspiration and biopsies. Laboratory Department
The Medicare laboratory department have a dedication to analytical excellence combined with an intrinsic awareness of the importance of laboratory quality management in all three phases of laboratory testing (i.e., the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases). The lab is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment that is fully automated and manned by highly experienced and qualified staffs that have extensive training and competence in different disciplines of Biomedical Science. In an effort to ensure the quality, reliability and accuracy of results generated by the laboratory, we employ only internationally validated and approved methods. In addition, our staff strictly adheres to standard operating procedures, performs daily quality controls, and periodic calibration and maintenance on all our equipment. The laboratory offers 24-hour 7-days a week service with a quick turnaround time to both in-patients and out patients. We offer a wide range of laboratory services in clinical chemistry, Immunochemistry, Haematology, Serology and Microbiology
Neurology Department
is headed by Dr Jabang who graduated with a Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery following which he obtained admission to the University of Cheikh Antra Diop for the Neurosurgery Residency. In June 2015, he was employed as a consultant Neurosurgeon in Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital. In June 2016 he started a 2-year fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship in Israel. He then returned to The Gambia and was soon promoted to a Senior Hospital Consultant in Neurosurgery September 2020 and Lecturer at the University of the Gambia. He has been a part of the Medicare family for the past 3 years and continue to innovate, educate and promote excellent healthcare to his peers and patients alike. He was recently appointed as the Medical Director of Medicare Clinic.
Cardiology
At Medicare, we provide cardiology services that cover heart and cardiovascular system disorders. Our services provide emergency care for both acute and chronic conditions such as acute chest pain, decompensated heart failure, hypertensive crises amongst others. Our cardiology services perform in house diagnostic tests with ECG, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, ultrasound doppler, echocardiography and stress ECG. These aid in diagnosis, management and surveillance of common conditions such as angina, valvular disease, heart failure, post myocardial infarction monitoring, high blood pressure, congenital heart defects and many more. We also aim to educate our patient and prevent common heart diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol by patient education, early diagnosis and management.

Surgery
GENERAL SURGERY is a wide-ranging area of surgery with surgeons that have wide range of knowledge and skills to deal with all kinds of surgical emergencies, with an emphasis on acute abdominal problems. General surgeons are essential in emergency cases requiring immediate surgery on presentation as well as elective cases as listed below. Our general surgery clinics cover consultations for the diagnosis and medical/surgical management of acute abdominal pain, management of chest and abdominal trauma, soft tissue tumours, intraperitoneal tumours, thyroid gland pathologies, hernia repairs, minimum invasive surgeries, obesity surgeries and endoscopic diagnostic procedure (Gastroscopy and colonoscopy).
Orthopaedic
is the medical and surgical specialty that focuses on injuries and diseases of your body's musculoskeletal system, including your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves. These allow you to move, work, and be active. Conditions may present as an emergency following a road accident/ trauma/ fall or as chronic pain which may be exacerbated with or without previous injury. When seen in clinic, your specialist will take a detailed history to aid diagnosis, rder necessary investigation and provide treatment which may be in the form of medication, exercise/ physical therapy or surgery. Following orthopaedic surgery, it is very important to listen to your doctors advise to prevent further injury or complications. They will also advise you on rest, wound care and recommended exercises at the appropriate time as part of your recovery.
Gynaecology
Our obstetrics and gynaecology department has evolved to becomes one of our busiest specialties. With our in-house consultant and multiple midwives, we aim to provide continuity of care and support for all women throughout their pregnancy. Our obstetric department led by a qualified professor and consultant who sees both low and high-risk obstetric cases with regular antenatal care. During your antenatal visits, you will be provided with information on how best to look after yourself and prepare for your baby. You will undergo regular check-ups, blood tests as part of an individualised care package to ensure you are at your healthiest throughout the antenatal period leading up to labour. Our experienced midwives are also happy to talk you through any queries or doubts you may have. We also offer antenatal classes for moms and their birthing partners to educate parents on what to expect.
