NEUROSURGERY

Our neurosurgery department is run by an experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon, Dr Jabang. We offer services to cater for adult, paediatric and congenital disorders. Clinics are booked by appointment only so, please make sure you have called in beforehand. If you do present as an emergency, you will be cared for by a member of our team who will be in immediate contact with our neurosurgeon as part of a holistic approach to medicine and a neurosurgeon consult will be arranged as soon as possible. Our neurosurgery clinics may lead to inpatient stays for closer monitoring, this is not abnormal. It means your doctor would like to monitor your neurological function over a period of time and best optimise you prior to surgery, if necessary. Some cases can be managed conservatively, if you have any concerns, speak to your doctor. Cases commonly seen but not limited to include degenerative spinal disease/ disc herniation, traumatic brain injury, haemorrhagic stroke, spinal trauma, hydrocephalus, spina bifida amongst others. During your consultation, you may be asked to undergo diagnostic tests in-house or be referred for scans in order to best optimise your care and ensure all pre-operative assessments are completed leading to a smooth and safe surgery if applicable. At Medicare, we are devoted to ensuring all patients are treated with individualised care plans, we aim to meet both acute and long term needs of our patients. We are therefore in contact with rehabilitation professionals who will guide you through your recovery an get you to your fittest possible self. If you have nay questions, please feel free to contact us or book an appointment with our neurosurgeon.
